 1. What is Germination?

Ans: The procedure of changing seed to seedling is called germination.

2. What things are necessary for germination?

Ans: i) Heat ( Sunlight )

        ii) Water

       iii) Air ( Oxygen )

3. What is Zygote?

Ans: Formation of fertilized reproductive cell ( Female) is called Zygote. Zygote converts into a seed.

4. What is Fertilization?

Ans: Male and female reproductive cell together is called.

5. Write the favorable condition to grow the seed?

Ans: i) Need healthy seed

       ii) Proper soil and mineral

      iii) Need proper air, water, and sunlight.

6. Give examples of growing plants from leaf, stem, and root.

Ans: Leaf - Bryophyllum

        Stem - potato, rose-plant

        Root - carrot, sweet potato

7. What is dispersal?

Ans:  Scattering of seeds by an agent is called dispersal.

8. How many types of dispersal? Give example.

Ans: Dispersal by wind - cotton seed

                              animal - any fruits ( apple, guava, etc )

                              water - coconut

                              explosion - pea

9. What is Cotyledons?

Ans: Cotyledons store food for saplings ( baby plants).

10. Draw and label the structure of seed.
