1. What is Force? Write the S.I. unit of Force.

Ans: Force is push or pull on a substance.

         S.I. Unit - Newton

2. How many types of force are there?

Ans: There are two types of force.

         i) Contact force ( Friction )

      ii) Non-contact force ( Gravitational force )

3. Is the Force scalar or vector quantity? Give reason.

Ans: Force is a vector quantity because it has magnitude with direction.

4. Who described the law of gravitation?

Ans: Sir Isaac Newton described the law of gravitation.

5. Write some types of contact force.

Ans: Muscular force, tension, collision, mechanical, friction, etc.

6. Write some types of non - contacting force.

Ans: Magnetic force, gravitational force, electrostatic force.

7. Write all effects of forces.

Ans: i) Can move a stationary object

        ii) Can stop motion

iii) Can change the speed of moving substance

       iv) Can change the direction

        v) Can change the shape of a substance

vi) Can change the size of a substance

8. How do you measure force?

Ans: i) If two forces act ( same direction ) on a substance, the resultant force is the addition of two forces with the same direction force is applied.

ii) If two forces act in ( different directions) on a substance, the resultant force is the subtraction of two forces with the same direction more force is applied

9. What is electrostatic force?

Ans: Force between a charged thing and an uncharged or charged thing is called electrostatic force.

10. Why moon and other satellites revolute around the Earth?

Ans: The moon and other satellites revolute around the earth for gravitational force.

11. What is friction?

Ans: Friction is a contact force act between two surfaces with opposite directions.

12. How many types of friction?

Ans: i) Static friction

        ii) Rolling friction

       iii)  Sliding Friction

13. Write the effects of friction.

Ans: i) It produces heat

       ii) It opposes the motion

iii) It causes wear and tear.

14. Write the factor of friction.

Ans: i) Weight of the substance

       ii) Surface area in contact

       iii)Nature of  surface area

15. Give some examples of the disadvantages of friction.

Ans. i) produces heat, heat damages the machine parts

        ii) waste of energy

iii) It causes wear and tear

16. Write the advantages of friction.

Ans: i) helps us to work

        ii) to hold the substance

       iii) can write on paper

       iv) lights a matchbox

17. How do you increase the friction?

Ans: i) by rough surface

        ii) making groove

18. How do you reduce friction?

Ans: i) by oiling

        ii) by lubricating

       iii) by ball bearing

       Iv) by streamlining shape
