1. What is Magnet?
Ans: Which thing creates a magnetic field is called a magnet.
2. How many types of magnets are there?
Ans: There are two types of magnets.
i) Natural magnets
ii) Artificial magnets
3. What are magnetic materials?
Ans: Magnet easily attracts those materials, which are called magnetic materials.
Ex- iron, steel, cobalt, etc.
4. What are non-magnetic materials?
Ans: Magnet does not attract those materials, which are called non-magnetic materials.
Ex- wood, rubber, sand, etc.
5. What is a magnetic field?
Ans: A magnet attracts magnetic materials without direct contact with them because it makes a field of attraction and it is called the magnetic field.
6. What is magnetic force?
Ans: Magnet asserts the power of attraction on magnetic materials and this power of attraction is called magnetic force.
7. What is the magnetic compass?
Ans: A magnetic compass is a magnetic tool that points out geographical directions.
8. What is the magnetic line of force?
Ans: Around a bar magnet a group of curved lines expresses the magnetic field and these curved lines are called the magnetic line of force.
9. Write down the properties of magnetic lines of force?
Ans: i) It gives the direction of the magnetic field.
ii) Two magnetic lines never intersect each other
iii) Magnetic lines are more dense near the pole.
10. Write about the magnetic field of the earth?
Ans: Our Earth works as a big magnet. A compass depends on the earth's two poles north and south. Earth's geographical north pole is considered Earth's magnetic south pole and as same as Earth's geographical south pole is considered as Earth's magnetic north pole.
11. What are permanent magnets?
Ans: Those magnets that sustain their power of magnetism for a long time, they are called permanent magnets.
12. What are the temporary magnets.
Ans: Those magnets that keep their power of magnetism for a short period of time, they are called temporary magnets.
13. Write the difference between the permanent magnet and the temporary magnet.
Ans:
